Raiffeisen Rechenzentrum (RRZ) in Raaba near Graz is a specialist for IT services in Styria with more than 35 years of experience. More recently, along with NTS Netzwerk Telekom Service AG, the entire network architecture of the data center underwent a re-design so that Raiffeisen Rechenzentrum became the most modern data center in Austria as explained by the Managing Director Dietmar Schlar: “From design to implementation, the project spread over a period of one and a half years.”

“The project in our data center was characterized by its high complexity as well as by its proactive view into the technological future”, explains Schlar. A solid basis for the implementation of such a mega project is that the employees of both companies corresponded well – from the Managing Director to the engineer. This good relationship guarantees fast processes. “The demands of the customer on the performance of this complex network were very high”, describes Thomas Hausegger, Site Manager at NTS, the challenge: “The availability of the network is extremely important. It must be available around-the-clock along with the entire self-service infrastructure (ATMs, bank statement printer, etc.). The Raiffeisen banking branches as well as the IT customers of RRZ depend on it.”

The affiliation and good cooperation of Raiffeisen Rechenzentrum with NTS go back a long time. The professionals in Grambach near Graz have repeatedly handled the procurement of network components and other small projects. “Years ago we wanted to occupy ourselves with the topic of voice over IP, which was very innovative back then, and it was obvious that we wanted to utilize the design expertise of NTS. With NTS you can perfectly implement innovative IT projects”, Schlar is depicting the advantages of the experts at NTS, when at the same time aiming at other forms of collaboration with them.

In another respect, the relationship between Raiffeisen Rechenzentrum and NTS is a very special one: “The company is using our infrastructure. NTS is our supplier and customer at the same time and the same can be said vice versa”, stresses the Managing Director of the data center. He also elaborates: “We as RRZ want to position ourselves more strongly as a business enabler. We want to design and implement solutions with our customers.” Here, it is immanently important to have direct access to the international suppliers and to find the required competencies locally and at the same time to be able to fall back to a regional implementation. “This matches the philosophy and the mission of Raiffeisen – to mutually strengthen regional businesses and to offer companies the possibility to perform accordingly.”
