For 70 years, Vienna Social Services, a non-profit organization, has been rendering social services with 1,400 employees for people in Vienna and are thus contributing to the high standard of living in the city. The wide range of offers include facilities for nursing, care giving, consulting and therapy for old, sick, disabled, social deprived, socially vulnerable people and their families.
As a 100% subsidiary of the Vienna Social Services, SobIT GmbH is not only responsible for the IT operation of the whole enterprise, but also offers charges at cost price IT solutions in the sectors health and welfare to other institutions and organizations as well. Here, the focus lies on the development of software and the generation of practical and affordable IT solutions for the specific requirements of this complex and challenging field.
THE STRONG TECHNICAL EXPERTISE OF THE NTS TEAM WAS CONVINCING.
SobIT operated two data centers for the Vienna Social Services. These data centers consisted of a grown, partially heterogeneous outdated infrastructure. Due to the increased requirements for a modern data center and the limited resources of a non-profit organization at the same time, it was decided to reduce to a single, but up-to-date and homogenous data center. Several companies were invited to the tender process. The key requirements were reliability as well as high performance and future security, all based on a 5-year approach. Besides the installation of hardware and software, the support up to the VMware virtualization layer was tendered. Thereby it was aimed to reduce the internal operating expenses and to free capacity to focus on the core competencies (software and process development).
DECISION TO WORK WITH NTS
When selecting the partner, eventually three main topics were decisive for the collaboration with NTS – as explained by Alexander Urbanec, General Manager of SobIT: “The strong technical expertise of the NTS team during the pre-sales as well as the sales stages, the solution and implementation oriented approach and the strong managed services offer for 5 years was convincing.”
