Long-standing partners feel safe together. The successful construction company ÖSTU-STETTIN has been an NTS customer for more than 20 years and has therefore been a partner from the very beginning. In a current project, everything revolves around IT security, which has now taken on a key role. After completing a successful friendly customer phase, ÖSTU-STETTIN has decided to introduce vulnerability management from NTS at all its sites.

ÖSTU-STETTIN’s range of services includes tunnel and shaft construction, building construction, general contractor construction, civil engineering and steel and formwork construction. The traditional company with a 100-year history has around 500 employees at its sites in Leoben, Vienna and Graz. The successful construction group is part of the HABAU GROUP, an international full-service provider for almost all areas of the construction industry, which NTS was able to acquire as a further customer following the successful completion of the contract.

NTS Vulnerability Management

NTS Vulnerability Management continuously identifies vulnerabilities and highlights their potential risks. With this managed service, early detection measures are not just a one-off affair, but a regular service. Based on an assessment and analysis of the vulnerabilities, NTS experts provide specific recommendations for remedying the problem. These results are documented in compact reports and discussed in regular meetings. The technological basis for this is Tenable, a platform for risk-based vulnerability management.

Friendly Customer

At the innovative company ÖSTU-STETTIN, products must either be convincing from the outset or tested accordingly. The construction company is considered a pioneer in its field and relies on reliable, innovative partners for further development in terms of proactive decisions. “We have three IT departments that decide whether a product is introduced at all and in what form,” says Michael Reiner, Head of IT Services at the construction giant. “We are a very innovative company, and we like to adapt suitable technologies very early on and relatively quickly – if they meet our quality standards. A proactive approach is very important to us.

Due to our many years of good cooperation with NTS, we quickly agreed to be a friendly customer for the NTS Vulnerability Management product.”

The project was originally launched at the headquarters in Leoben out of the need to take a changing threat situation seriously and counteract it as best as possible. “The question we asked ourselves was whether we wanted to set up our own internal security team or whether we should rely on available experts from a third party who had already impressed us in other areas of technology,” explains Reiner. “This decision not only saved us time, but also money.” With a managed service solution from NTS, companies do not have to worry about the operation of a solution, but can rely on NTS and thus strengthen their own core competencies with full use of resources.

Monthly reports and a key for weighting the “findings” were drawn up at the start of the joint project and continuously followed up. “At our regular meetings, we particularly appreciate the fact that we can rely on fixed contacts. We can always access our contacts at NTS directly, without a hotline. Which is remarkable when you consider the growth curve of NTS. We don’t see any impact on our relationship here, which is as unbureaucratic and friendly as it was 20 years ago. You have to give them credit for that.”
