the bavarian red cross is well prepared for the future With a timely and secure wifi coverage. Cisco meraki functions as an end-to-end solution for 20 locations, is easy to operate and can be managed centrally. This way a SECURE NETWORKING is possible WITH LITTLE EFFORT.

The fact that smooth and secure communication within and outside a company is of great importance is now undisputed, regardless of the industry. When it comes to an organization with 920 employees that improves the lives of people in need and the socially disadvantaged, the demand for a stable network is essential. The basis for this is a secure network for distributed locations, as well as low effort in troubleshooting, expandability and implementing. In addition to its technical expertise, NTS was particularly convincing as an IT partner due to its honest consultation at eye level and its personal touch.

“I just had a good gut feeling from the first conversation on and that has been confirmed time and time again.”

Johann Vogl Team leader IT, Bavarian Red Cross, district association Rottal-Inn

Currently the Bavarian Red Cross, Rottal-Inn District Association, maintains more than 20 locations of various kinds throughout the district. With four nursing homes, four social stations, two day care centers for the elderly and two day-care centers for children, four rescue stations, four ambulance stations, a social psychiatric service, a kindergarten and two clothing stores, the district association Rottal-Inn is one of the largest associations of the Bavarian Red Cross in Bavaria. Around 920 full-time employees make the district association one of the largest employers in the Rottal-Inn district.

new situations require new solutions

Specific goals for the collaboration with NTS were the provision and general use of efficient and secure wifi coverage for all residents, staff and mobile care documentation.

Especially in the care sector, the pandemic required new approaches. Due to the months of visiting bans, the Bavarian Red Cross, Rottal-Inn District Association provided all residents with an iPad for communication with relatives. In addition to this important possibility for communication with the outside world, the integration of the tablets on multifunction displays with Apple TV was also realized. Special apps with game and learning functions also show positive effects, especially for residents with dementia.

WHEN IT COMES TO AN ORGANIZATION WITH 920 EMPLOYEES THAT IMPROVES THE LIVES OF PEOPLE IN NEED AND THE SOCIALLY VULNERABLE, THE REQUIREMENT FOR A STABLE NETWORK IS ESSENTIAL.

Smooth collaboration, more customer proximity

In mobile care documentation, documentation can now be done directly in the resident’s room with the help of the new wifi design and mobile tablets. This results in immense time savings, more efficient processes, and more accurate documentation. The faster and more holistic documentation, such as the recording of wounds and injuries by taking photos on the mobile tablet, significantly benefits the healing process.

Free wifi has by now also become an essential service for all employees with private devices. Against the background of the precarious personnel situation, this step represents a great added value.

Prepared for the future

The performance of the digital elements depends last on a stable network. Thus, the roll-out of wifi necessitated a new network design with PoE models. Performance and a stable, reliable connection of the access points were the main focus. But a growing number of end devices, the use of streaming options, and the management of apps also increased demands. Before the introduction of Cisco Meraki, there was a lack of a comprehensive management tool and reporting, which made it difficult to correct errors. Now, the Bavarian Red Cross, Rottal-Inn District Association benefits from centralized control and measurability of its activities, smooth collaboration, and greater security.
