The tasks of ambulance and rescue services, patient transport, health and social services, blood program, emergency doctor services, disaster relief and development cooperation, search services as well as education and training are performed at more than 100 locations in the province of Styria.

SECURE NETWORK for RAPID ASSISTANCE
Today, networks are opening up many possibilities, but they also bear great risks when configured inadequately and not looked after in a professional manner. It has been important for the Styrian Red Cross to work with a firewall that either allows access onto their own network, or not – as the case may be. Therefore, the Styrian Provincial Red Cross Association opted for Cisco and its thread-oriented Next-Generation Firewall.
The Styrian Red Cross counts on the Identity Services Engine (ISE) by Cisco in order to know in general who within the business, respectively should have access into which systems and information. This means that accesses onto the Styrian network will be regulated centrally. Thereby, requirements for clients and the resulting authorizations for connections via wired LAN, wireless LAN as well as VPN can be defined. Additionally, ISE provides to the administrators detailed information who is registering when on the network and with which device.
The head of information and communication technology of the Styrian Red Cross, Mr. Müller-Kulmer, finds himself well supported by NTS with regards to security: “In the course of the topic GDPR and the legal framework with regards to security of network and information systems, it has been a big concern of ours to create an adequate technological basis in order to comply with these regulations and to be prepared for the future at the same time. SWIFT REACTION with IP-TELEPHONY
With approximately 400 Cisco IP telephones on 100 locations, the Styrian Red Cross counts on a comprehensive Cisco collaborative solution for their own network. Here, the telephone system consists of software with several devices that are integrated into the company´s network just like PCs. The telephony itself as well as all related applications will be provided as a central site-independent service on the existing data network (LAN/WAN). Swift action and reaction are key especially when the telephony sector is concerned. All calls can be started quickly and simply by a click of the mouse. During the phone call, both call parties have the choice to readily add a video or a web conference and it becomes evident at a glance if a colleague is on a call or is free to take a call.
