NIS Package Infrastructure
Due to increasingly complex¹ and more frequent cyber threats, it has become more important than ever for companies to tighten security requirements and make their digital infrastructures more resilient against cyberattacks. With the right tools, processes and risk management, businesses can face the challenges of the digital age more effectively and protect their systems from ever-expanding threats.
NIS 2
With the update and expansion to the new EU directive NIS 2, resilience against cyber threats needs to be strengthened, and the security of network and information systems within the EU is to be ensured.
Who is affected?
NIS 2 expands the scope to several sectors, raises requirements for risk management, tightens reporting obligations for cyber incidents, and promotes cooperation between member states. Essential and important entities must introduce appropriate risk management practices, incident management, security measures for acquisitions, development, and maintenance of network and information systems, as well as reporting practices.
This also comes with high fines for violations, personal liability of company executives, and auditing obligations – both by authorities at the companies themselves and by companies towards their suppliers. As a result, the requirements of the NIS 2 directive are relevant to a wide range of companies across Europe.
NTS NIS Package²
NTS relies on a combination of systemic support and the experience and know-how of its experts in networking and security. With the NTS NIS PACKAGE, NTS offers its customers a tailored bundle of services that contribute to meeting NIS requirements.
The NTS NIS PACKAGE is based on NTS INVENTORY4ALL (I4ALL), a software solution developed by NTS for the daily digital inventory of network and security components (IT asset management). This creates transparency of the network inventory and helps companies keep track of their constantly changing IT infrastructures. The collected inventory and configuration data are seamlessly integrated with the NTS VULNERABILITY MODULE and the NTS COMPLIANCE MODULE.
“Through the NIS Package and its services, NTS can make a significant contribution to the NIS compliance of its customers.”
Roman A. Tobler NIS Expert and Senior Manager Consulting, Ernst & YoungYour benefits at a glance
- Reliable information and decision basis for risk management
- Recommendations on infrastructure lifecycle (EoX, support)
- Technical recommendations (software versions, configurations)
- Full transparency of the entire network inventory
- Identification of vulnerabilities and configuration deviations
- Increased network security and compliance
- Risk development reporting and documentation for third parties (e.g., auditors, authorities)
Systemic Support
The Vulnerability Module is based on CVEs published by Cisco and Palo Alto Networks, including ratings and CVE details. It retrieves this information from the vendors, links the data with host information in NTS INVENTORY4ALL, and provides customers with transparent results.
With the Compliance Module, customer device configurations are compared with a set of compliance rules defined by NTS. For each device, a collection of features is checked for their compliance (e.g., SSH, logging). Any deviations are displayed to the customer.
Both modules provide the information needed to take corrective measures against vulnerabilities and prevent security incidents.
Professional Service
To ensure an optimal start, NTS proactively supports customers in the initial phase and coordinates the necessary steps for smooth operation of the modules.
During semi-annual technical review sessions, NTS engineers proactively discuss vulnerabilities, software versions, recommended updates, compliance deviations, and if required, network architecture for the included infrastructure. They provide recommendations to further strengthen network security. This makes NTS your sparring partner in risk management as well as infrastructure maintenance and development.
As part of annual lifecycle management, NTS proactively supports customers with EoX reviews and tech-refresh planning for the components included in the service.
From Add-On to Managed Services
For more comprehensive support, NTS can assist with its security products such as Incident Response, Vulnerability Management, TDS|SIEM, or TDS|MDR – or fully take over the operation of network and security environments with additional managed services.
